Biography

New rising artist Arantza has demonstrated a lot of passion for singing and songwriting since a very young age. She was born on July 18, 1994 and raised in Mexico City in a family with musical influence, especially her grand parents and her dad. She was fortunate to grow up surrounded by pianos. She played by ear and would experiment for hours creating little songs marking the beginning of a love for composition. Also, her grandma introduced her to singing and by the age of 5 she was able to harmonize. Later on, she had piano lessons but mainly vocal instruction that lasted over 12 years.

Growing up, she was always involved in musical activities at school; she started publicly performing at the age of 11. Getting involved, especially in musical theatre, really helped her develop her passion for performing arts. Arantza always landed the lead roles in her school productions such as; The Lion King, Alladin, Mamma Mia!, Hercules, The Little Mermaid and Rent. For six years she participated in annual intercollegiate music festivals. She won 1st place and the “best performance of the night” award for 4 years in a row.                                                By the time Arantza was 16, she was performing in venues such as: Berklee Performance Center (1,215-seat), Auditorio Black Berry (2,700-seat), Auditorio Nacional (10,000 seat), and Six Flags Mexico. She also performed at The National Autonomous University of Mexico, The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, the live T.V. show Sabadazo from Televisa (the biggest Mexican T.V. network), and she was invited to participate directly into the blind auditions for the 1st and 2nd season of The Voice Mexico.     

Arantza had her first direct encounter with the prestigious Berklee College of Music at age 16. She attended the 2011 Five Week Summer Performance Program in Boston, Massachusetts. It was a life changing experience for her; she realized she wanted to dedicate her life to music and study there. In the program, she auditioned and was selected to perform at the Performing Singer-Songwriters Showcase, directed by award winning recording artist Melissa Ferrick, and as lead singer for the acclaimed Singers Showcase at the Berklee Performance Center. At the end of the program she was awarded with a full scholarship for the 2012 summer program. Where later on Arantza was awarded a scholarship and accepted to Berklee to pursue her B.A.

She started college at Berklee in the fall of 2013 majoring in Performance and Songwriting. Arantza has accomplished many things during her time at Berklee. Some highlights include: performances at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival twice, the Annual Berklee Encore Gala twice, Babson College, Harvard University, MIT, 1st place at 2015 Perfect Pitch concert, Symphony Hall, lead singer at Singers Showcase (2 semesters in a row) and being part of high performance ensembles such as The Tower of Power, Neo-Soul and Indian Ensemble. In 5 years more than 5 solo performances at the Berklee Performance Center. She graduated on May of 2018 from both Performance and Songwriting majors and she’s getting ready for a bright future waiting for her after college.

Arantza has evolved into a very experienced and amazing performer. She is a fantastic singer-songwriter, arranger, and music producer. She is a highly captivating performer, who’s audience cannot help but be moved by her magnetic persona and ability to express emotion. She has performed in Mexico, The United States, and Spain in all kinds and sizes of venues. Her main influences are Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera. Her style of music is mainly R&B, Soul, and Funk but she’s very versatile and can sing in almost any style, genre and in English, Spanish, French, Hindu and Japanese.
